President's Report
Hi, well another year comes to an end, and we kicked it off with an excellent December competition. While there wasn’t a huge crowd due to inclement weather, spirts were high and everyone had a great time, even Santa turned up, much to the children’s delight. There was a fantastic line up of prizes for you all to compete for, as with each and other months, we really do have wonderful support from our local sponsors. For December it was Comag, J Swap Contracting, Indulgence Beauty and Spa, and of course Grant and Karen Montague giving away that awesome Viking kayak, didn’t that make young Beau Mitchell a very happy boy. If you went to the Christmas parade in town this year you would have seen two very nice-looking boats representing and promoting the Matamata Fishing club. I would like to say a big thankyou to the Clothier family and of course Phil and Charlie for their efforts, the boats looked great, and the new signs from Tonz Signs were awesome.
Our next competition is a very good one, there’s so much on offer, it falls on Waitangi weekend so Monday night will be the prizegiving, weigh in etc. Also of course the Friday is game fishing day so effectively you can target a marlin, tuna etc for four days. Perhaps this time we will see one caught, good luck to you all. We have a great line up of sponsors for the February competition, Matamata Sportsworld, Begovich Builders, Top Cru, and the Stihl Shop Matamata, make sure you kick 2023 in a positive way and get out on the water with family and friends.
