Hi all, another comp is nearly on our doorstep, can you believe we are up to the
fourth month of the year already. Thankyou to all those that fished the March Big Fish
comp, and helped make it a very successful and exciting one. There was over a hundred
and forty people there and the place was abuzz with who would take out the Big Fish
prize, in the end it went to Michael Autridge, with a very rare these days, yellow fin tuna,
very nice fish. A very special thanks must go out to our wonderful group of local sponsors, believe
me, without their support the club would not be what it is today: Matamata Marine;
Challenge; Matamata Vets; King Electrical and PlumbCo all deserve a big pat on the
back and please support them where you can.
What is really cool at the club right now is the number of children turning up to the
weigh-ins, good on you, the parents and grandparents, for getting them out there on
the water and the river banks. It does your heart so much good to see those smiling
faces when they come up to the weigh station, and thanks to the awesome
sponsorship of Glenn, Sharon and the team at Waharoa Transport, a lot of them go
home with a prize. Did you see the look on young Javon Lawson's face when he walked
up to receive the top junior prize with an awesome kingi.
Now for the next comp, continuing this year is our wonderful sponsorship from
Gibson and Val Barron at LJ Hooker, we have had some excellent April comps thanks to
their support. Now, this one is going to be even bigger and better. I would like to
welcome aboard a new sponsor for the club April comp, joining LJ Hooker for the month
is Matamata Auto Services and Electrical, Brian and Kerry Raupi have always been
keen fishos and have decided they would like to become more involved by supporting
you, the members. Many thanks from us all.
Now let's not forget that Waharoa Transport also get in behind the April comp
with a continuation of the Kids comp, so, as if you needed an excuse to get the children
out fishing, get them out there and bring them along to the weigh-in on April the 3rd,
don't forget 4-5pm weigh-in, see you all there.
Membership, wow, what a response we have had this season, must be the awesome
summer we have had. We now have over 460 members, more than 120 ahead of last
year, well done to you all. Spread the word on what a great club you belong to and sign
a friend up before the next comp. I would like to take another opportunity to mention
what a great job our committee are doing, thanks team.
