November Newsletter 2015

President Report

Wow, what a November Comp we had! Hi all, I'm sure if you were there on the night you will agree
with me when I say it was a great night and a lot of fun was had by all. Once again, I make a special
mention of our committee, as president, I have a great team to work with, so thank you to you all.
Like a lot of clubs, we rely heavily on sponsors and I would like to take this chance to say a great big
thank you. As you will see in the newsletter we have over forty of them for the November Comp,
some big, some small, but all combine together to make an awesome event for you all. I don't like to
single any out, but I must say it was great to have Swaps back on board, they do so much in the
community and to have them involved in our club again is excellent. I thought the auction of their
boat was very entertaining and an excellent contribution to the funds for the upcoming
December Comp. Congratulations to Steve Autridge for being the winning bidder, I'm sure
Steve and his crew will have a great time out at Mayor Island on board Savana City, Swap's
beautiful launch. I'll have to make sure I'm out there to keep an eye on things!
Congratulations to all the prize winners, junior and senior, there were some excellent fish weighed in. Two people produced their first ever 20 poundplus snapper, congratulations to Toby Autridge and Roydon Prince, very nice fish. Special thanks to all the members who donated fish to the cooking bin, with such a huge crowd it was a mammoth job for the filleters and cooks to keep everyone happy with a piece of fish or two. I have had a lot of good feedback about the entertainment, I hope you enjoyed the music of Mike McKinley, I know I did, the Sheriff would be proud. Now how can you help to keep things going well? One, of course, is to do what you are already doing, coming to the comps, but the other very important one is to support YOUR SPONSORS. It is so easy these days to shop online, or out of town, but the small businesses like ours who support your club need your support in return. Take a few minutes to read through the long list of your club sponsors and next time you need a chainsaw, weed trimmer, set of tyres, steak for BBQ, potting mix, rod and reel, timber, glass etc etc etc, think of them first eh?
Coming up on the 5th and 6th is the December Comp. I think it is going to be another cracker.
Joining our long time sponsor Comag to make things even bigger and better for you is Viking
Kayaks with one of their awesome kayaks as a lucky member draw for you, Golden Flow, and of
course the proceeds from the Swaps auction. Now, as if the McDonald family don't already do
enough for the club, the generous nature of them all is continuing, Angus and Noelene's grandson
Chad has made an awesome gesture, he is now a builder in the army and is going to make, and
donate, two barbecue tables for us to put up as lucky member draws for December, thanks guys,
that is fantastic, the support we have had since becoming president again is very humbling. Next
good news is that I have it on very good authority that the big jolly man in the red suit is going to
be there so bring the kids along with a $10.00 present with their name on it and Santa will hand
it out. The club is soon to have a covered trailer for members to hire for a small fee, great for those
group fishing trips or a trip away with the family. This has come about through the overwhelming
generosity of Leo from Colour Plus, who donated the trailer, and Allen Cossill from Allen Cossill Car
Painters who donated his time and expertise to restoring it for us, once again amazing generosity,
very sincere thanks from us all. So team, see you all on the 6th, check the categories for the comp, we have added in a prize for best fish caught on a soft bait and a special prize for the ladies, even if you don't fish or catch a fish, come along because you have a great chance of taking home a ham for Christmas with lots of lucky member draws and spot prizes.
