Welcome to our April 2025 newsletter.
Our March Big Fish competition was unfortunately a victim of unsettled weather. The Big Fish competition was kindly sponsored by King Electrical, Plumbco (2004) Ltd, Challenge Matamata, Matamata Marine and FVM –Farm Veterinary Matamata. Their sponsorship for this competition is greatly appreciated, thank you all. Any prizes not struck will be jackpotting to the Big Fish competition next year. The Big Fish competition was won by Gerry Gordon with a lovely snapper weighing 5.965kg, taking home $750 as first prize. Thanks also to last month’s sponsors for the Kids Competition –Waharoa Transport and Small Steps Early Learning Centre.
Another big thank you to Alex of Wrightway Builders Limited for coming on board as a new sponsor for the adults section.
The Club has introduced a new initiative of awarding anyone that catches their First Marlin one of our new trophies they have been kindly crafted by R & C Echit (Craig Osborne) and sponsored by Piako Rural Services Ltd. Three were presented at our March Competition to Grant Atkinson, Bruce Andrews, and Holly Henderson. Well done to you all!
Our April competition is kindly sponsored by LJ Hooker, Bell & Graham and Matamata Auto Services & Electrical. There is also another Kids Comp kindly sponsored by Waharoa Transport again! Get the kids out there and involved! The April competition is the second weekend of April, 12th and 13th. See you all there at weigh in! Let’s hope our weather plays its part for the April competition.
